What does it even mean to be interesting? You can't expect to be something if you can't even properly identify it!
Think of someone you know who you would describe as an interesting person and try to label them by putting them into a niche group of people. If they're really interesting they wouldn't fit into just one niche, you can likely relate them to many different groups and activities. Now think of an uninteresting or boring person, they can probably be pigeonholed into one/few categories but don't have much more depth in the way that you perceive them.
This is no coincidence, interesting people do lots of different things and can talk about anything. The old saying "know a little about a lot" really ties in here. Be a well rounded person and you can talk about more things with more people. Don't be the guy you know from work that only talks about work. We will get into more specific ways to converse interestingly in days to come, but for now just work on knowing a little about a lot.
Focus on building a lifestyle that is more interesting and well rounded. You don't have to be very smart to know a little about a lot. Just be open to new ideas and experiences. Some examples: having a basic understanding of sports, books, popular movies, foreign countries/vacation spots, unique music genres, fun sporty activities like hiking or biking. This short list alone gives you a plethora (great word by the way) of things that you can talk to most people about even if you're only mildly educated on the subjects.
I want you to make a commitment to yourself that you will try to learn about something totally new to you every (day/ 2 days/ week/ month). I can't tell you how often is a reasonable goal for you. One new thing a day may be overwhelming to some, while learning about one new thing every week will be too easy for others. Understand that personal growth in this fashion makes you more interesting, but is also a form of self improvement and lets be honest, you want to be the best you that you can be. Do what feels right to you, but do something! Progress is progress so start crafting yourself into a knowledgeable Renaissance Man!
